Ukraine, Poland prepare to present Odessa-Brody-Gdansk project in Brussels
The format for a presentation of the Odessa-Brody-Gdansk pipeline project, which should be held in Brussels on March 18, is to be discussed in Kyiv this week with the participation of the Polish side.
Ukrtransnafta CEO Oleksandr Todiichuk told journalists on Friday, after a meeting of the Ukrainian part of the Council for Cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, that a working group headed by the Polish deputy economics minister would arrive in Kyiv for this.
"We will establish together what we are ready to present, what is not yet ready and what volume of information will be presented in Brussels on March 18," he said.
Last year Ukraine announced plans to hold the latest presentation of the Eurasian oil transportation corridor (the Odessa-Brody-Gdansk pipeline) at a conference financed by the European Commission. The European Union began to consider the pipeline project after a joint appeal by the prime ministers of Poland and Ukraine, who requested more active support for the project from the E.U.
Ukrtransnafta and the Polish consortium Golden Gate decided to begin project work on the Brody-Plotsk section of pipeline, which is a continuation of the Odessa-Brody pipeline, in September last year.
Ukrtransnafta is considering the idea of setting up a single consortium to manage the pipeline from Odessa to Gdansk, which may include the Odessa-Brody pipeline and the Yuzhny terminal, built last year, in addition to the Plotsk-Gdansk pipeline section and the transshipment complex in Gdansk.
Ukraine held several presentation of the Odessa-Brody pipeline in Brussels in 2001-2002.
Construction of the 674-km Odessa-Brody pipeline, with pipe diameter of 1,020 mm, and the Yuzhny terminal, was completed in 2001.
