Russia and Ukraine signed the intergovernmental agreement.

Russia and Ukraine signed the intergovernmental agreement «On strategic cooperation in gas industry». The contract on creation of the enterprise «International consortium on management and development of gas-transporting system of Ukraine» was signed between the National Joint-Stock Company "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and "Gazprom" (Russia).

The agreement was signed by the prime ministers of Ukraine and Russia, Anatoly Kinoh and Michael Kasyanov, at the presence of Leonid Kuchma and Vladimir Putin, the presidents of two countries. The contract on creation of the consortium was signed by Jury Bojko - the Chairman of board NJSC «Naftogaz of Ukraine» and Alexey Miller the Chairman of board of "Gazprom".

After signing the document the president of Russia Vladimir Putin has declared, that - «this is a realization of arrangements with the president of Ukraine in energy and gas sector». At the same time Putin has noted, - «this is not final solution of a question, but the very important step».
