Ukrtransnafta wants to build Bratislava- Schwechat pipeline with Yukos

Ukraine's Ukrtransnafta and Russia's Yukos could build an oil pipeline from Bratislava in Slovakia to Schwechat in Austria on a joint basis.

The two might jointly coordinate the transportation of oil along the route by Slovakia's Transpetrol, in which Yukos owns 49% of the shares, Alexander Todiichuk, Ukrtransnafta's chairman, told Interfax.

"We have a better chance of getting the pipeline built if we join forces," Todiichuk said.

Yukos would gain an additional opportunity to supply crude to German refineries, Todiichuk said, adding that Yukos might be involved as a partner, chiefly as a transport company.

The Bratislava - Schwechat pipeline will transport light crude produced in the Caspian region.
