Cabinet Creates Commission On Gas Deposit Use Permits


The Cabinet of Ministers has created an inter-agency commission to decide the winners of competitions to utilize underground deposits of petroleum and gas, according to a 27 September cabinet resolution.

The commission is headed by Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Dubina.

Representatives of the Fuel and Energy Ministry, the State Land Resources Committee, the Energy Supply Committee, Neftegaz Ukrainy, and Nadra Ukrainy will be commission members.

The committee, the resolution states, will be a permanent agency of the cabinet.

The commission will coordinate preparations for and the holding of competitions by the Economic Resources Ministry for permission to use gas and petroleum deposits, will create lists of those who will utilize the deposits, will determine competition rules, and will analyze materials submitted by competition participants.

As Ukrainian News has reported, 3.7087 million tons of petroleum and gas were extracted in Ukraine in 2001, or 0.3% more than in 2000. Gas extraction was 18.3486 billion cubic meters, or 1.6% more than in 2000.

Ukrgazdobycha To Launch Two Power Stations At Yabluneve Gas Processing Plant Before End Of 2002


The Ukrgazdobycha company intends to launch operation of two power plants with a capacity of 6 MW each at its Yabluneve gas processing plant (Poltava region) before the end of this year.

Yury Fisenko, the head of the company’s department of gas processing and gas condensate, disclosed this to Ukrainian News.

According to Fisenko, the company plans to launch operation one of the power stations in October and the other in December.

The Nikolaev-based Mashproekt company delivered the power stations to Ukrgazdobycha.

The plants cost UAH 14 million.

According to Fisenko, the start of operation of the power stations will enable Ukrgazdobycha to fully meet the electricity requirements of its gas extraction enterprises in the Poltava region as well as to supply electricity to other consumers.

Ukrgazdobycha accounts for about 74% of the total volume of natural gas extracted in Ukraine.

The company increased its volume of extraction of crude oil and gas condensate by 3.4% to 343,100 tons during the January-June period of this year, compared with the corresponding period of last year.
